Mat Braithwaite - Director

Since graduating from Sheffield Hallam University with a BSc (Hons) in Automotive Technology, Mat has spent over 10 years as a design engineer working in various sectors including Automotive, Aerospace, Renewables, and Nuclear as well as consultancy. 

He has lead design teams as well as implemented company-wide PDM/PLM systems and is now focused on building a strong and successful enterprise at BRIER Solutions.

Harmonising good engineering practice with efficient business management tools and methodologies means Mat is well placed to help a variety of clients with their engineering needs.

William Birdsall - Director

William studied Mechanical Engineering at Loughborough University and became Chartered with the Institution of Mechanical Engineers in June 2012.

Throughout his career William has been involved with the design of bespoke equipment ranging from precision, remote intervention tools to handling equipment for heavy engineering applications. He has worked as lead engineer on numerous projects from initial concept stages through to
overseeing assembly and carrying out testing.

William is committed to helping companies overcome problems and improve efficiency through the application of intelligent design.

Luke Soanes - Senior Engineer & Workshop Manager

Luke is a highly motivated and professional design engineer; a self-starter with a track record of innovative problem solving and high-quality outputs.


He has over 15 years of engineering experience at Rolls-Royce since graduating from Sheffield Hallam University with BSc (Hons) in Automotive Technology.


Luke also has extensive practical knowledge from his hobbies which he is able to contribute and has been invaluable to a range of projects within BRIER. These hobbies have given him experience using a variety of equipment and specialist softwares.
